Clarets face the Owls in midweek clash

On Tuesday afternoon, Burnley U21s face Sheffield Wednesday in a Professional Development League match at Middlewood Training Ground.

The Clarets secured a 2-1 win over top of the table Birmingham City in their last outing, with centre-back Logan Pye kicking off the scoring before Josh Home levelled after halftime for the Midlanders. However, recent addition Mikey O'Neill was on hand to seal an important victory in the 82nd minute.

Andy Farrell's team come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Premier League Cup at the County Ground, Leyland. Fellow January addition Tommy McDermott, who was making his full debut, found the top left corner with a curler from range before the Whites equalised.

After that game, Farrell said: "I thought the boys were excellent in terms of their energy levels. They played against a very good Fulham team, keeping the ball well and shifting across the pitch when needed."

Andy Holdsworth's Sheffield Wednesday squad sit third in the league standings with seven wins, six draws, and three losses, and come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw with 8th-placed Peterborough United.

The reverse fixture ended in a 4-0 victory for Sheffield Wednesday at the Burnley Training Centre in September.

Striker Bailey Cadamarteri, who now features regularly in the Sky Bet Championship for the Owls, scored twice, with Joey Phuti and Favour Onukwuli also getting on the scoresheet.
