U21S PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD UNITED V BURNLEY

Second evening fixture of week for young Clarets

Second evening fixture of week for young Clarets

Following Tuesday night's trip to Hull City, Burnley U21s are back on the road on Friday evening when they take on Sheffield United at the SMH Group Stadium in Chesterfield.

The young Clarets are eager to bounce back from what was a comfortable scoreline in the Tigers' favour earlier this week, with Tommy McDermott scoring the only goal for Burnley with six minutes on the clock.

Having previously recorded four straight victories, Andy Farrell's team have incurred back-to-back league defeats but can still climb the Professional Development League table with up to four games in hand on the teams around them.

Burnley sit 5th in the table with 34 points from 21 matches, including 10 wins and four draws.

Sheffield United are fighting at the top end of the table and currently sit 3rd with 41 points. If they win their games in hand, they can build a comfortable lead at the top of the Northern section of the table.

They come into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat to southern section leaders Millwall, however, and were 3-0 down at halftime against the London club.

Burnley were 1-0 victors over the Blades in the reverse fixture back in November, with first-teamer Darko Churlinov scoring the only goal of the game in second-half stoppage time at the Burnley Training Centre.

Supporters are welcome to attend this fixture at the SMH Group Stadium, Chesterfield (S41 8NZ). Admission is priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with no need to purchase in advance.
