Burnley U21s are back on the road on Wednesday, with three Professional Development League points up for grabs against Peterborough United.
The young Clarets head into the match on the back of Friday night’s convincing Premier League Cup victory over Luton Town, in which they ran out 4-1 winners.
Andy Farrell’s side took a 2-0 lead into the half-time interval at Kenilworth Road thanks to goals from Joe Westley and Kamarni Ryan.
Westley added his second and the team’s third of the evening before the hour and substitute Joe Bauress put the cherry on top with a cool finish in second-half stoppage-time.
Our last league outing was a 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United, which ended a run of three straight wins.
As such, Farrell’s side are currently 3rd in the North section table with 11 points from eight matches.
Peterborough are three places lower but, importantly, have only played four matches thus far. Three of those have been victories so a win for the Posh could see them climb several places in the table, depending on other results.
Their last outing was a thrilling 4-3 win away at Barnsley last week, in which Joe Davies and Harley Mills both scored a brace.
This game will be played at Peterborough’s Idverde Training Ground and, because of this, it is closed to the public.
