Burnley U21s start the new week with a lengthy trip to Ipswich Town, but that journey is made better by the prospect of playing at Portman Road.

Kick-off on Monday night is 7pm, with the young Clarets aiming to bounce back from a defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.

It finished 2-0 to the Seagulls at the County Ground in Leyland, with both goals coming in the second half.

Andy Farrell’s side found themselves behind through Shane Nti’s 49th-minute header and Nehemiah Oriola doubled their advantage on the hour.

Burnley were previously unbeaten in six of their last seven outings prior to the Brighton loss, and head into Monday’s match 27th in the 29-team table.

After 18 matches they have accrued 12 points, courtesy of three wins and three draws.

Like ourselves, Ipswich Town have made the step up to Premier League 2 football this season having earned Category One Academy status in the summer.

The Tractor Boys have adapted to the new environment well and are currently 6th in the standings with 34 points from 17 matches.

It’s not been plain sailing in recent weeks, though, and the Suffolk-based side have lost their last two home league matches.

It was 3-0 to West Bromwich Albion last time out and after Eseosa Sule broke the deadlock for the Baggies, further strikes came from Souleyman Mandey and Jack Bray.

John McGreal is the main man in the Ipswich dugout after a 17-year playing career that included 96 league appearances for Burnley between 2004 and 2007.
