Burnley U21s will be aiming to build on back-to-back victories when they travel to Everton’s Finch Farm training ground for a Premier League 2 fixture on Monday afternoon.

The young Clarets have recorded wins in two different cup competitions in the last nine days, with a league three points now firmly in their sights.

Andy Farrell’s team beat Brentford to progress to the quarter finals of the Premier League Cup on Monday night.

Kian McMahon-Brown’s hat-trick was the key talking point in Leyland, and the young striker read the game well to pounce on a mistake and open the scoring.

He then netted on the rebound after having a penalty saved, and his third strike was a fine finish after powerful work from Vernon Masara.

The result followed a 3-1 triumph over Wigan Athletic in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup, but results have been harder to come by in the league.

13 games have produced two wins and a draw thus far, leaving the young Clarets 27th in the 29-team table.

Everton are an established category one outfit and have found the going easier this campaign, taking 19 points from their 13 outings to date.

The Toffees are in a rich vein of form too, winning three and drawing the other of their last four fixtures in all competitions.

That stalemate came at Arsenal in Premier League 2 last week, and before that they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 thanks to a brace from Northern Ireland youth international Braiden Graham.

Graham has been one of the team’s stand out performers this campaign, alongside captain Reece Welch who has previous Sky Bet League Two experience to his name with Forest Green Rovers.

Everton’s manager is Paul Tait, who has been with the Merseysiders in various roles, including the U18s, since 2006.

Our young Clarets came out on top the last time these two teams faced off in January 2024.

That was in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup and it finished 4-2 to Burnley, with a young Brandon Pouani starting just over a month after his 16th birthday.
