Burnley FC’s U21s side are back in action on Saturday morning, as they host Fleetwood Town at the Burnley Training Centre in the Professional Development League (11am KO).
The Clarets bounced back from their defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last time out, by beating Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the DW Stadium.
Joe Westley netted the only goal of the game – and his sixth in the league this season – on the brink of half time and Burnley defended well to see out the three points.
That win moves the U21s up to third in the Professional Development League, picking up ten points from their first six league games.
Saturday’s opponents Fleetwood, managed by Matt Lawlor have experienced a mixed start to the season, winning three and losing three of their first six matches.
However, those losses have come in their previous three league games against QPR, Sheffield United and most recently, in a ten-goal thriller, Crewe Alexandra.
Goals from Kyle White, Josh Edwards, and a brace from Theo Williams weren’t enough for the Cods, as they fell to defeat at Poolfoot Farm against the Railwaymen and now sit 6th in the Professional Development League table.
The game at the Burnley Training Centre will see full coverage on X @ClaretsAcademy, and a match report will follow the game on burnleyfc.com.
