Burnley U21s play their penultimate game of the 2023/24 Professional Development League season on Friday afternoon, with Coventry City the opponents.
It’s Andy Farrell’s team’s last home game of the campaign and the fixture will take place at Victory Park, the home of Chorley FC, with kick-off at 1pm.
The young Clarets go into it on the high of winning the Central League Cup earlier this week, contesting an entertaining final at Pride Park.
After falling two goals behind Murray Campbell reduced the arrears and Joe Westley restored parity with a cool finish from inside the area.
Centre-back Benn Ward then scored a late winner in the final 10 minutes, just as he did in the semi-final, to spark the celebrations.
With the focus now returning to league action, Burnley are 5th in the 11-team North section table with 42 points from 28 matches.
Friday’s opponents Coventry are 10th with 23 points despite having played a game more and will be keen to avoid finishing bottom of the pack.
The Sky Blues have recorded back-to-back defeats and were beaten 1-0 away at Peterborough United last time out, with a Trialist scoring the only goal.
Burnley were comfortable winners in the reverse fixture between these two teams, with Renaldo Torraj opening the scoring after 14 minutes.
Further first-half goals followed from Joe Bevan and Tom Tweedy and Vernon Masara put the cherry on top shortly after the interval.
Supporters are welcome to get behind the team in Chorley, with entry free of charge to all.
