Burnley U21s are aiming to record a fourth straight win in all competitions when Barnsley visit the County Ground in Leyland on Tuesday night.
This is a Professional Development League fixture, and a win could see the Clarets climb to 2nd in the North section table depending on other results.
Andy Farrell’s side have recorded several positive results of late, winning their last three matches and, more widely, six of their last seven outings.
On Saturday the young Clarets took to the Turf Moor pitch for the first time this season, beating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in the Premier League Cup.
Tom Tweedy opened the scoring with his second goal in as many matches before a second-half own goal sealed the points that took the team to the top of the Group G table.
The U21s’ last league match was a 5-2 win at Peterborough United last week, with five different players finding the back of the net in Cambridgeshire.
Tweedy. Joe Westley, Joe Bevan, Benn Ward, and Kamarni Ryan were all on target in an emphatic victory.
After nine matches our 14 points leaves us 3rd in the table, a point behind Hull City in 2nd.
Young Clarets hit the road on Tuesday
Tuesday night’s opponents Barnsley have 10 points having won three and drawn another of their nine outings thus far.
The Tykes have had a mixed start to October, with a last-minute penalty contributing to a 4-3 defeat to Peterborough on the 1st.
Three days later, though, they bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Supporters are welcome to attend the game, with Burnley season ticket holders able to gain free access. Other adults are priced at £5 and concessions are £2.
