Young Clarets aim to extend unbeaten start

Burnley U21s undertake the long trip south to play AFC Bournemouth in the Professional Development League on Tuesday afternoon.

The fixture is the Clarets’ third of the season and follows draws against Millwall and, most recently, Ipswich Town.

It ended 3-3 against the Tractor boys in an entertaining match, with Andy Farrell’s side twice coming from behind to earn a point.

It was Kamarni Ryan’s first competitive goal for the Club that ensured the result after Tommy McDermott and Vernon Masara, who were both on the first team bench against Sunderland at the weekend, had also netted.

There could have been three points for the Clarets, too, with Masara and Charlie Veevers both hitting the bar in the closing stages.

Tuesday’s opponents Bournemouth come into this campaign having secured a third-place finish in the South section last time out.

Under the management of Alan Connell they have had mixed fortunes in their opening games, with a win and a loss so far.

The Cherries’ opening fixture saw them overcome Hull City by two goals to nil, but that was followed by a 3-0 defeat to Peterborough United last week. Notably, former Claret Chris Conn-Clarke bagged a brace for The Posh.

It was a memorable day at Turf Moor when these two teams last met, with Renaldo Torraj, Tom Tweedy and Masara on target in a 3-1 victory back in March.
