A much-changed Burnley U21s side were beaten 4-0 by Barnsley in the Professional Development League on Friday afternoon.
The Tykes opened the scoring from the penalty spot at the County Ground in Leyland, before two goals from a trialist and another strike late on took the game away from the young Clarets.
With fixtures mounting up, goalkeeper Charlie Casper was the only player to keep his place from the side that beat Stockport County in the Central League Cup just two days ago.
U18s Brandon Ly and Noah Adekoya were given the opportunity to start, while Andy Farrell’s bench consisted entirely of U17s players.

Possession was shared in the opening 20 minutes and both teams created openings, but neither side were able to properly work the opposing goalkeeper.
The visitors took a 24th-minute lead through Josiah Dyer, who beat Casper from the penalty spot after a foul by Trialist A.
15 minutes later it was 2-0 as a cross into the middle was nodded across to Barnsley’s Trialist, who picked out the bottom right corner with a header from six yards.
The Tykes’ number 11 was on target again 35 seconds after the halftime interval, squeezing the ball in at the back post.

Burnley continued to press forward in search of an opening, with Ly shooting narrowly wide of the left-hand post from a Michael Parker cut back and Trialist B heading a corner over.
However, it was Dyer who completed the scoring with four minutes to play, reacting quickest to tap in from close range after Casper’s reaction save.
Farrell gave minutes to two of his young substitutes bench in Benji Wetshi and Oli Pimlott late on as the game finished without any action of note.
Burnley U21s are next in action on Tuesday 23rd April when they travel to Wales to take on Swansea City at their Landore Training Centre. Kick-off is 1pm.
