Jordan Slew scored twice to earn a Morecambe side made up of mostly first-team players a 2-0 victory over Burnley U21s on Tuesday afternoon.
The result means Morecambe finish top of Central League Cup Group A and progress to the knockout stages at our expense.
There were four changes to the side that started last week’s Professional Development League match against Wigan Athletic, with Jon Ander Vilar Robinson keeping goal.
Alex Healy-Byrne stepped in at left-back with Joe Ashton pushing inside, while Tom Tweedy featured for the first time since the end of January as per his loan agreement with AFC Fylde.
Further forwards, Basilio Socoliche earned his first start of the season on the left wing.

A first half of few clear-cut chances saw both sides push forwards and shoot from range without testing their opposing goalkeeper.
The young Clarets started to gain more of a foothold around the half hour mark and worked their best chance of the fist half at that time.
Good link up play between Charlie Veevers and Julien Vetro worked a shooting chance for the former, but his effort was too high.
Socoliche also shot from range before the break, but missed the target.
Morecambe, who had first team manager Derek Adams in their dugout, took the lead through Slew just three minutes into the second half.
After a slick team move, the number 11 picked out the bottom right corner with a first-time finish from the left of the penalty area.
The 32-year-old made it 2-0 with 58 minutes on the clock. This time he finished calmly from close range having been picked out by a team mate.

Veevers almost hit straight back, but Morecambe ‘keeper Harry Burgoyne was able to save low to his right.
Andy Farrell turned to his bench for reinforcements soon after, making a triple change. On came Logan Pye, Noah Adekoya and Brandon Ly, with Jesse Williams, Veevers and Socoliche all making way.
Tweedy was next to fire a presentable chance over the bar and Farrell then made his fourth change of the afternoon, with Hamzat Balogun making way for birthday boy Joao Mendes.
The young Clarets kept pushing until the very end and Ly was also able to test Burgoyne. However, the Shrimps held onto their clean sheet and condemned Burnley to defeat.
