Clarets on the road again with Monday night trip to Tigers

Burnley’s U21 side travel to Hull City on Monday evening – 27th February – in a Professional Development League encounter at the Dransfield Stadium in North Ferriby (7pm KO).

The Clarets come into this one on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic, in a game that featured multiple recognised first-team players for the Latics and have a chance to record their first league victory in four games.

Tom Pearce netted a brace as Chris Sze netted Wigan’s third of the game to see ten-man Burnley fall to defeat – following Deji Sotona’s red card.

That result leaves Burnley 4th in the Northern Section of the Professional Development League – at the time of writing – and three points off Monday’s opponents who sit one place above in 3rd.

This is the U21's second away game in three weeks, as they travelled to Birmingham City, in a 1-1 draw, two weeks ago - Monday 13th February - in a game where Halil Dervişoğlu scored for the Clarets.

The Tigers – managed by ex-Bradford City boss Conor Sellars – lost 3-1 away to Crewe Alexandra last time out, with Ty Webster, Matus Holicek and Max Woodcock striking for the Railwaymen before Jake Brown struck a late consolation.

The Clarets’ hosts were victorious in the last meeting between the two sides with goals from James Scott, Jim Simms, Harry Wood, Harvey Vale, Oliver Green and Billy Chadwick sealing a 6-0 victory for Hull at the Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland.

Entry at Dransfield Stadium for Monday night’s game is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. If you can’t make it, we’ll be covering the game over on Twitter via @ClaretsAcademy. We’ll also have a report for you post-match here on burnleyfc.com.
