Burnley’s U21 side will kick off their Professional Development League campaign at home to Charlton Athletic, with the fixtures for the upcoming season now confirmed.
The Addicks will make the journey north on Monday, 8 August. The game will take place at the Lancashire FA’s headquarters – the County Ground – in Leyland.
This is the venue which will play host to the Clarets home games throughout the course of the campaign.
A first away trip for Burnley comes a week later, taking on Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Berkshire. The Royals ended last season bottom of the Premier League 2, Division 2 table.
Halloween sees the Clarets play host to Hull City, while the first game of the new year also takes place at the County Ground with Sheffield Wednesday the visitors on Monday, 9 January.
Burnley’s last home game will come on Monday, 1 May – a UK Bank Holiday - against Swansea City. The campaign meanwhile is wrapped up away at Watford’s Vicarage Road eight days later.
Kick-off times will vary throughout the season, with games played during the afternoon and evenings. In the case of the latter, the action will get underway at 7pm.
The U21s will also compete in the Premier League Cup, with fixtures in that competition set to be released at a later date. The Clarets do however already know their group stage opponents – Stoke City, Swansea City & Arsenal.
