A young Burnley U18s side beat Ipswich Town 4-0 on Saturday morning to earn three valuable Professional Development League points.
The Clarets were at it from the off and a brace from U16s player Brandon Pouani, accompanied by a further strike from Lucas Wane, saw them go into the halftime interval with a three-goal lead.
Zach Johnson completed the scoring in the second half as Tony Philliskirk's side bounced back from last week's defeat to Hull City.
Pouani scored his first with 10 minutes on the clock, weaving his way through the Tractorboys' defence and firing the ball straight into the bottom corner.
Ollie Sweeney picked up an injury soon after and was replaced by Trialist B, but this didn't seem to have an effect on the team as they showed their maturity to adapt.
Pouani then doubled the Clarets' lead when he controlled a swinging Johnson free-kick and slotted home and the forward, who was proving influential, assisted Wane's goal which came 24 minutes in.
He dribbled into an open space inside the area and squared for Wane to finish low.
Ipswich started the second half aggressively with the aim of reducing the deficit, and Jamie Mauge saw a close-range effort saved by Burnley 'keeper Felix Chester.
Ben Jordison and Marley Leuluai then combined to block a stinging shot from Ipswich's Chuks Uzor and preserve the Clarets' clean sheet.
Philliskirk then switched up his front line as he introduced another U16s player in Albert Blackie for Frankie McMahon-Brown and Blackie had an immediate impact, unleashing a powerful strike from range that was palmed away by the Ipswich goalkeeper.
Johnson added to the scoreline with six minutes remaining. After Wane swerved his way into the area and avoided Ipswich 'keeper Fletcher, he crossed for the winger to tap into the open net and crown an enjoyable afternoon.
Chester was determined to not concede and denied another Ipswich effort, punching Uzor's header over the bar in the closing stages.
The Clarets had the last opportunity when Anwar Murtesa looped an accurate cross towards Dylan Sime, who couldn't quite connect with the ball in the desired fashion.
Having secured a ninth league win of the season Burnley now sit 4th in the 11-team table with 35 points from 24 matches.
Next up is a trip to Fleetwood Town's Poolfoot Farm Training Complex on Tuesday 9th April, with kick-off at 11am.
