Burnley FC’s U18s side completed their pre-season camp in St Andrews with a 4-0 win over Ayr United on Friday afternoon.
Kian Le Fondre bagged the opener before doubling his tally just after the break. Sonny Pickup then netted from the spot before Adam Abbas sealed the victory minutes from time.
This game was the culmination of the U18s fixtures in Scotland, as they also recorded a 1-0 victory against Dundee on Tuesday afternoon.
Boss Tony Philliskirk said after the game: “Overall I was very happy with the performance, in respect of what the boys tried to achieve in the game and the targets that we tried to set them before the game.
“We played out well from the back, through the middle and into the final third.
“The first-year group we know have got very good ability and a lot of them have come through the academy together so there’s a really good spirit amongst the lads and you could see that today in the performance.
“I think the team is very well balanced and we’re pleased with them.
“They make mistakes, we all do, but as long as they’re trying to do the right things we’re really happy and I think we showed some really good patterns of play there in possession.”
