Young Clarets head to Manchester on Saturday in league clash

Tony Philliskirk's youngsters head to the Etihad Academy training base on Saturday, as the Clarets take on second-placed Manchester City.

It will be the first time the two sides have met this season, after several postponements and rearranged fixtures, due to City's FA Youth Cup involvement.

City, who have only lost once this season, to league leaders Manchester United, who the Clarets beat in January, have won six of their last seven matches.

But Philliskrik's side also come into this game in good form, with three wins, one defeat and one draw in their last five games, most recently a 1-1 draw with Liverpool midweek.

A win for Burnley would see them move to sixth in the U18 Northern Premier League and to the 30-point mark, for their first season competing in category-one academy football.

The two teams met last season in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final, where City ran out 1-0 winners, before going on to win the competition.

The U18 Premier League clash kicks off at 2:00pm at City's Football Academy Stadium, with live updates avaliable on Twitter (@ClaretsAcademy), followed by full match report.
