U18 PREVIEW | Burnley v Everton

2020-10-02T09:11:58.281Z

Young Clarets have eyes set on spot in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup final.

The youth team return to league action this weekend, where Tony Philliskirk’s side host Everton at their Leyland base.

The young Clarets will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's defeat to Manchester United at Carrington, as Philliskirk’s side look to settle into their new lofty Category One U18 Premier League division.

And Liverpool-born midfielder Corey Brennan, who scored in a friendly midweek for the U23s against a Clitheroe side, admits his side are in for a tough test against the Toffees.

The second-year scholar said: “All the lads know that it’s going to be a tough game especially coming of the back of last week, but we’ve moved on from that defeat.

"We’ve worked hard in training this week as always and we know what we need to do.

“We know what is expected of us by all the staff and that is our work rate.

“I think there were plenty of positives to take from last week’s game, despite the score line. When we've watched it back, personally and together as a group, you realise we had good spells in the game.

“But this league is made of up great teams with great quality, so if we don’t take our chances, or make mistakes, then we’re going to be punished and that was the case last Saturday.

“We have the chance to put things right and bounce back this weekend and it’s a special one for me coming up against Everton.

"I’ve grown up in Liverpool and around some of the lads.
