Burnley Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Tom Tweedy from Cymru Premier side Penybont FC.
The 18-year-old has made 25 appearances for Penybont over the last 18 months, netting his first professional goal earlier this month in a 5-1 victory over Caernarfon.
And the Welsh winger now pens an 18-month deal with the Clarets, eligible to play for both the U18s & U21s initially.
Upon signing his deal at the Burnley Training Centre, Tweedy was excited about what lies ahead, saying: “This is a really proud moment for me and my family as I join a Club like Burnley.
“It’s the right time and the right place for me to come now, and I know this will be somewhere I can progress in my career.
“There are some really great people at the Club I’ve already met in my short time here over the last few days, and I just can’t wait to get going now out on the pitch.”
In addition to Tweedy, the U21s also welcome fellow attacker Deji Sotona who most recently played for French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
A Republic of Ireland youth international, Sotona came through the ranks at Manchester United and has also enjoyed loans from Nice back to the UK with both Brentford & Kilmarnock.
