Assistant manager and lead phase coach Joh Townson, who has led the side for the past week with head coach Tony Philliskirk isolating, confessed his delight after securing two wins over Manchester United in five days.
The Clarets firstly came away 4-1 winners on Tuesday in the Premier League Cup, before an impressive 1-0 victory over the U18 Premier League leaders at Leyland this afternoon, thanks to a Sam Unwin goal.
And Townson believes his side did everything they could to come away with three points, against a United side who have won 11 of their 13 league games, losing to just the Clarets and Manchester City.
Townson said: “It’s been an absolutely great week, both performances were totally different, Tuesday we were probably better with the ball and we had more chances that game.

“But today we did have to ride our luck at times, I said to the boys at the end though, blocking a shot on the line, isn’t luck, we work on that and encourage that.
“Today we showed all those Burnley traits that are so evident across the first team, but these boys are showing them as well, so it’s great to see.
“I think shape wise we were good, we didn’t allow them to come through us, I think we defended the box and crosses very well, as we often do.
“We tweaked a couple of things, like going five across the midfield which is a bit different to what they’re used to, but they took it on and did it well.”

United fielded a very strong side, including players bought for large fees from clubs such as Barcelona, Ajax, Manchester City.
But Townson confessed his pride at full-time, after a young Burnley side with seven first-year scholars in the starting line-up, came away with the win.
“As soon as you walk over the white line, it is a game of football, you start at 0-0, whatever your background is, wherever you’ve come from.
“Then it’s 11 against 11, then we just want to look at ourselves in the mirror after the game and say have we done the best we can, today we can absolutely say we have.” Said Townson.
