With Burnley Women now in their annual winter fixture break, we’ve taken a look at the numbers behind their 2024/25 season to date.

The Clarets have played a total of 16 matches across three competitions, wining 13 of those to record a win percentage of 81%.

Their longest run of consecutive victories was nine, starting with September’s 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Turf Moor and ending with the 1-0 win over Bradford City in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Rebecca Sawiuk’s team have found the back of the net 62 times which, when rounded to one decimal place, works out at an average of 3.9 goals per match.

Laura Elford is the team’s top scorer with 18 goals in 11 appearances, helped by four and five goal hauls against Spennymoor Town and Bradford City.

Aimee Kelly is next on the list with eight, while Brenna McPartlan and Reanna Blades have five and four respectively.

16 different players have found the back of the net for the Clarets, while the team have scored in all but two of their outings to date.

The biggest winning margin to date was the 12-0 demolition of Spennymoor Town in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, in which Aimee Kelly and Laura Elford scored five and four respectively. Further strikes came from Anna Grey and Claudia Walker.

Defensively, Burnley have conceded just seven times in their 16 matches with six of those coming in the league.

As such, the Clarets have the second-best defensive record behind leaders Nottingham Forest.

The team have kept nine clean sheets between both goalkeepers, with Kirstie Levell recording five and Naoisha McAloon keeping four.

Between wins over Sutton Coldfield Town at the end of September and Spennymoor Town at the start of September, Sawiuk’s side kept four clean sheets in a row.

Burnley sit 3rd in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League table with 25 points from their 10 matches.

They are three and four points adrift of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest respectively, who sit 2nd and 1st but have both played a game more.

Goal difference wise, Burnley’s 22 is the fourth best in the division.

Sawiuk has used 23 different players and three of those, Charley Docherty, Emma Siddall and Laura Elford, have featured in every single match.

Siddall has the most starts with 15 in all competitions.

Nottingham Forest Up Next In The New Year

Burnley Women will contest their Adobe Women’s FA Cup third round tie against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday 5th January 2025.
