Former England boss Hodgson replaced Claudio Ranieri as Hornets boss in January. His first game in charge was the reverse fixture at Turf Moor which finished goalless.
Juraj Kucka and Kiko Femenia both missed the trip to the Etihad with knocks.
Colombian international forward Cucho Hernandez is absent with a hamstring injury.
Chilean defender Francisco SIerralta joined Watford from Udinese but hasn’t featured since the FA Cup third-round tie at Leicester City because of a calf muscle injury.
