Burnley face Manchester United at Turf Moor tomorrow night (8pm kick off). It’s Burnley’s 5,000th professional league fixture and the 118th league meeting between these two famous sides.
Here’s all the latest team news from both camps ahead of the game.
Burnley
Josh Brownhill has served his suspension for five yellow cards and will be available for Tuesday night’s game against Manchester United. Brownhill was in the Manchester United academy as a schoolboy.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson is recovering from an appendix operation and Matej Vydra is in rehabilitation after a hernia operation.
Charlie Taylor has missed the last three games with a foot injury. He is on his way back but Tuesday may come too soon. The former Leeds United defender had been ever present in the Premier League before the trip to the Emirates.
Ashley Barnes is training with the first-team squad after a long-term thigh injury. He played 45 minutes with the U23s at Bolton Wanderers last week, scoring one goal, and is getting close to a return.
Maxwel Cornet played a full 90 minutes in the Premier League for the first time on Saturday. Wout Weghorst also played the entire game,.
Manchester United
Ralf Rangnick’s side lost on penalties to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup after a 1-1 draw on Friday night. Both Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani missed the cup tie. They are back in the squad for the trip to Turf Moor.
Five-times Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is set to play at Turf Moor for the first time in his career. He scored in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford when United won 3-1.
David De Gea was rested for the fourth-round FA Cup tie and is expected to return on Tuesday night. Former Claret Tom Heaton is back at Old Trafford and may be on the bench.
Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho are both set to be involved at Turf Moor, despite being substituted in the Boro tie. Pogba played for the first time in 94 days against the Championship side while Sancho was forced off with cramp in extra-time. Pogba, a French World Cup winner, got the only goal in United’s 1-0 win at Turf Moor last season.
Both Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof missed Friday’s cup tie through injury and illness respectively. Bailly had been on African Cup of Nations duty with the Ivory Coast alongside Maxwel Cornet.
Fred and Alex Telles will miss the game after testing positive for Covid-19.
