Charlie Taylor was happy to secure an important three points on the road in Saturday's 2-0 win over Fulham.
Pleased with the second half performance in particular, the Claret was glad that the team could repay the travelling fans for their ongoing support.
When asked if the three points was a nice early Christmas present, the left back replied: “Yes can’t ask for much more really, good three points, clean sheet, a lot of positives and a nice three points just before Christmas for the fans.”
The defender was also delighted that the team kept a clean sheet, withholding sustained pressure from the home side.
“It’ll give us a huge amount of confidence, there’s never an easy game in the Premier League, especially away from home. So to come to a place like this and take three points is a big boost for us and hopefully we can continue it on in the next few games.”
Fulham had been in prime form heading into the fixture, with Taylor all to aware of the threat they would pose, making the win and clean sheet a confidence boost moving forward.
“The last few results at home they’ve been playing teams off the park.
“I think the first half we sort of weathered the storm, we weren’t great ourselves, but we defended well, stayed in the game. Then second half we just came out of the blocks firing, and it was a brilliant second half performance.”
Was the improved second half performance a result of anything said at half-time?
“No not really it was just believe, believe in ourselves. I think we had a couple of chances first half and I think we just believed more, and we knew we’d get them chances second half and we’d put them away.”
The travelling fans at Craven Cottage were lively throughout and Taylor was grateful for the support especially two days before Christmas.
“Yeah brilliant. The support all season has been brilliant, especially on the road they always come in their numbers. Two days before Christmas, never easy, we do massively appreciate them, and we’re glad that we could repay them with three points.”
The festive schedule continues when the Clarets welcome Liverpool to Turf Moor on Boxing Day, followed by a pre New Year trip to Aston Villa. So, will the team be bringing the confidence from today's win into the two challenging fixtures?
“Yeah definitely. A win always brings confidence, and a clean sheet is a huge bonus. Two very tough games but we’re going to look forward to them.
“Liverpool at home now on Boxing Day is a great game to play in and yeah look bring it on.”
