Zian Flemming was disappointed following Sunday afternoon's defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

It was the Dutchman that put the Clarets ahead in the first half but 4 second half goals for the home side saw them take the three points.

Speaking after the game, the forward expressed his frustration at the result but emphasised the importance of the personality and character that needs to be shown heading into the remaining games of the campaign.

“I thought we were very good in the first half and then the second half, it was the opposite.

“My goal was well played by the lads I thought. The switch of play and the overlap is something that we’ve worked on the entire season, especially in the past few weeks. I also know that when Jaidon or Q are coming through that they’ll be able to put a cross in or try to find me. Which happened again.”

ON FOREST’S SECOND HALF SHOWING

“I think they came out of the blocks well in the second half. In the first half we were able to diffuse their pressing a little bit, keep possession every now and again. The second half it felt like we were playing completely into their hands. We probably lacked a little bit of quality and intent in everything that we did in the second half.

“When we played forward, we struggled up top to keep the ball as well. They probably did it well and we just didn’t.”

NOT LETTING STANDARDS SLIP

“I think it’s going to come down to personality and character more than anything. With football in general, your personality or character is going to define where you end up playing. In a situation like this it’s probably going to come to the surface even more.

“Everyone just has to look at themselves in the mirror and think what kind of character do you want to show right now and also as a team, what do we want to represent. What do we want to show to ourselves, our team-mates, our families, the fans watching, to the fans travelling to support us. There’s no reason for me anyway, to let the standards and pride slip.”
