Jay Rodriguez wants the Clarets to give the supporters 'something to be proud of' as Burnley head to Everton on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Burnley take on Sean Dyche's side at Goodison Park and Rodriguez acknowledges the Clarets will face a tricky test on Merseyside, but hopes the visitors can book their place in the quarter-final of the competition and send the travelling faithful home with a smile on their face.
Speaking to burnleyfootballclub.com ahead of the trip, the forward said: “It’s a massive thing for us to have support like that every week. I think we have sold-out the tickets at every away game this season and it's phenomenal. “We want to give them a result to be proud of on Wednesday and send them home happy. We know it won’t be an easy game but it’s one we want to come away happy from."
Rodriguez added: “It’s going to be a tough game, we know that. It’s always tough going to Goodison Park and they’re coming into it off the back of a win so they’re confidence will be high.
“Cup games are always special though, it’s the type of games you want to play. Full house, sold-out away end and a lively atmosphere.
“It’s a good chance for all the squad to be involved in and others to get a chance. Hopefully we can get a result and put a performance in to get through to the next round.."
The Clarets head into Wednesday's cup tie after a defeat at Bournemouth on the weekend but Rodriguez says a win against the Toffees would give Vincent Kompany's men a plenty of positives heading into Saturday's clash with Crystal Palace.
Rodriguez said: “I think every game can spark something and we go into every game wanting to win. It’s important whether it’s just a small-sided game into training or a Premier League game it’s important to have winning mentality.
“That win brings more than just a win, it brings confidence, belief and positives so we look to go there and believe in ourselves which we do and hopefully get the win.
