The Clarets number 9 and hometown boy Jay Rodriguez has been flourishing under Manager Vincent Kompany.
On the back of his 100th league goal, secured against Wigan on Saturday, and a goal in the Clarets' win against Millwall at home, the striker is feeling good and looking forward to Friday's visit to the West Midlands.
Rodriguez on recent performances:
“This past week it’s been two good performances, against tough teams. Against Millwall, we managed to play our game and break them down eventually. It was satisfying.”
Rodriguez on linking up with Nathan Tella:
“Tella is a great player, he is a great lad as well, a joy to play with. He’s learning, helping the team, he’s so dangerous with and without the ball.
“Many defenders don’t want to play against him. He’s intelligent and everything you would want out of an attacking player.
“I’m sure he will continue to get even better.”
Rodriguez on scoring two in two:
“I back myself to score goals in any league. You have to have that self-belief. I will keep my head down, keep learning and keep working hard.
“I try and learn throughout my career. I’m learning a lot from Vinny and his staff. My mind’s open, I’m buzzing about everything. It’s important to keep learning, working hard and improving.
“As a team, we need to keep moving forward. I love the way we’re playing at the moment, I hope it continues.
“We work on the training field on movement patterns, support play, a lot goes into it. We’ve got to stick to tasks for the team, whatever that is you’ve got to do it for the team. We’ve had good performances in previous games but we haven’t got the points from it.”
Rodriguez on his 100th league goal:
“All these experiences I’ve had in my career help me. I’m looking forward to creating more moments. To get 100 goals is an achievement but I’m not done yet I want to keep going.”
Rodriguez on the mix of experience in the squad:
“I think the mix is important. Everyone who’s come in they are all great lads, who are willing to work, it’s the same with the older lads.
“To learn and improve is key to anything, I’ve always wanted to do this in my career. We have a good feeling in the group, with the staff, the manager, it’s positive.”
Rodriguez on West Brom:
“It’s a special place for me and my family. I met some great people there, made friends for life. I enjoyed my time there. I really enjoyed the Championship season, but we just didn’t have enough to get over the line.
“West Brom, it’s a ground everyone looks forward to going to. It’s a great stadium, great fans. For us it's an exciting time to go there and go up against a strong side. It’s a quick turnaround, we need to rest, recover and go for it on Friday.”
Rodriguez on the Championship:
“Every game in this league is tough. Wigan was a difficult place to go on Saturday, Millwall were tough in a different way. There are no easy games, everyone plays until the end, physically, mentally it’s tough. We need to take it game by game, for now West Brom is our main focus.”
