Jay Rodriguez faced the media on Thursday morning and reviewed the victory over Tottenham, recent performances, competition up-front and the importance of focus turning to the weekend.
Rodriguez on back-to-back Premier League wins:
“It does feel really good, especially with the work we have put in recently.
“Performances over the past few weeks have been very good and we deserve this.
“The win on the weekend was fantastic, but to back it up with another win last night is even better.
“Last night was great, but the main focus now is on Saturday and going to Crystal Palace and getting another result.”
Rodriguez on the performance against Spurs:
“Against a team like Tottenham, the players they’ve got, there’s always going to be periods of the game where you are a little bit defensive, but I thought we could hurt them when we wanted to.
“We had good composure on the ball, we created chances, looked dangerous and it just felt like an all-round performance, defence and attack.
“It’s definitely something to build on and we are all really pleased with the last couple of games and performances, but we have to continue it now.”Rodriguez on competition on the attacking front:
“I always think healthy competition is good and the best thing to keep players pushing hard.
“I think at this club, we have a great group of lads all behind each other, so I think it’s important to have that competition.
“Wout has been brilliant since he came in, on and off the pitch he’s been great, and we have benefited a lot from him since coming in.”
Rodriguez on looking to climb out the bottom three this weekend:
“We have just got to take each game as it comes, we can’t get too carried away after a couple of good results.
“Our next big game is the next one, which is Palace this weekend and all the focus goes onto that now.
“We just need to take the momentum from the past few days into the weekend and hope for more of the same.”
