Defender Connor Roberts put in a Club Man of the Match performance in Tuesday night's win against Birmingham.
Sealing a festive three points, the Welshman, who joined his country in Qatar for the World Cup last month, assisted Anass Zaroury with the opening goal, before doubling the home side's lead just before half-time.
Talking after the game, Roberts said: “Yeah, obviously we want to win every game we can, tonight was no different. We’ve had time off over Christmas, the World Cup and whatnot, and we’re back here, back at Turf Moor and a brilliant three points.”

On the early goal getting the Clarets off to the perfect start against tricky opposition, he added: “It was brilliant, sometimes games like this, against teams like Birmingham can be difficult, can be backs against the walls type of stuff. We came out and that early goal really helped us, we could kind of settle into the game and take a couple of risks and in the end, I think it was comfortable for us.”
His second goal of the season and another chance late on in the game came from the right back being well positioned in the box, a part of his game he is enjoying.

“Yeah, I do enjoy it. I’ve played in the Championship before, for my old club, I used to get in the box quite a lot and score a few goals, so to obviously score is always nice. I’d like to try and get in those areas and score a few more, it would be nice.”
Next up, the Clarets travel to Stoke City's Bet365 Stadium on Friday night, in the team's last game of 2022.
“I love it to be honest [the games coming round quickly]. I don’t particularly like training if I’m honest! So, the more games the better and if I can play that one again that’d be brilliant. If not, I’ll keep on turning up, keep on trying my best.”
