Ian Maatsen's impressive first half brace was enough for the Clarets to secure a sixth consecutive win in the Sky Bet Championship, defeating Swansea City 2-1 in an entertaining encounter in South Wales.
Maatsen curled home a free kick on the edge of the area early on, before then firing in a rocket of a strike from 25-yards out just 10 minutes later at the SwanseaCity.Com stadium. Ollie Cooper pulled one back for City shortly after, but it wasn't enough for the hosts.
Manager Vincent Kompany made three changes from the side that beat Stoke City 1-0 on Friday night. Anass Zaroury, Nathan Tella, and Jay Rodriguez replaced Manuel Benson, Darko Churlinov and Ashley Barnes for the visit to Swansea.
First Half
The Clarets started the opening few minutes strong in Swansea, enjoying plenty of the ball and got their opener in just the 12th minute.

Tella was hacked down on the break by City defender Harry Darling, with referee Oliver Langford awarding a free kick to the Clarets on the edge of the area. Maatsen then stepped up and curled the ball around the wall and into the bottom corner past Steven Benda to give Kompany’s side an early lead.
Swansea looked for an instant response shortly after and came close as Liam Cullen’s drilled effort from inside the area was palmed away by Arijanet Muric, before being cleared for a corner.
But it was the Clarets and Maatsen who struck again midway through the first half, as the Dutch full-back broke forward and rifled an unstoppable strike towards goal from outside the box, which Benda could only get a fingertip to before rippling the back of the net.

In a frantic opening half-an-hour in Wales, City then clawed a goal back to half the deficit as Copper slammed the ball in from close range, following up an initial save from Muric.
Russell Martin’s men had a couple of chances as the break approached to snatch an equaliser, but Cooper and Fulton both saw their efforts fizz wide of the target.
Second Half
The visitors came out on the front foot and Josh Brownhill had an opportunity to grab a third goal of the afternoon for the Clarets, first seeing his strike saved well by Benda before then firing over the bar moments after.
As Swansea searched for an equaliser, Kompany then turned to his bench 10 minutes in the second 45 introducing Johann Berg Gudmundsson for Zaroury out wide.
Rodriguez then had a glorious chance to double Burnley’s advantage on the hour mark, after latching onto Brownhill’s flick on, the striker guided his header inches wide of the post from just a few yards out.

There were late chances from both teams as the game drew to a close, but the Clarets defence did enough to take home all three points.
