Good evening, welcome to Turf Moor for tonight’s Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round game against Fleetwood Town.
What a fantastic result against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, to win 4-0 in front of our home fans is brilliant. I’m so proud of Vincent and the team for another great performance, and four different goal scorers on the day shows the real attacking prowess in our squad.
Tonight, we have a great opportunity to continue our FA Cup run, with a spot in the quarter finals up for grabs. In addition to our league campaign, it’s incredibly exciting to enjoy a cup run in such a prestigious competition. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for another positive performance this evening.
We recently announced the news that due to high demand we have had to open a waiting list for new season ticket holders. I want to reiterate how grateful I am to everybody who has purchased a season ticket, your support means everything.
To echo Vincent’s words after the Huddersfield game, Turf Moor is our fortress which we will protect. To have a full crowd behind us gives such a boost and has played a massive part in keeping our unbeaten home run going this season.
Our waiting list is open until the 24th March and further information can be found here for those who wish to join. Next Wednesday is International Women’s Day and we will be marking the occasion at our home game against Wigan on the 11th March. There will be lots of activities on the day and in the build up to the game we will be shining a light on Burnley FC Women and women’s football here at the Club, which we are looking forward to sharing with you all.
On the pitch the women’s team enjoyed an incredible 7-0 win over AFC Fylde Women in the league recently. What a great result! The squad play their home games at Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland and all support is very much welcome.
Keeping on the theme of positive performances, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Wout Weghorst on his Carabao Cup win with Manchester United at the weekend.
What an achievement to lift the trophy in front of a sold-out Wembley crowd, and he bagged himself an assist on the day, for Marcus Rashford’s goal. Well done, Wout, from all us Clarets.
Back to tonight’s game, we have full focus on securing our spot in the next round of this special competition. Best of luck to Vincent and the players, let’s keep the cup run going.
Up the Clarets!
Alan
