Good evening, welcome to Turf Moor for tonight’s Carabao Cup game against Crawley Town.
We arrive following the defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday. While the result put an end to our unbeaten run of 17 games, that statistic in itself shows just how far the team has come in the short space of time since the start of the season.
We’ve had incredible highs so far this campaign and I’m confident that there will be many more to come. Let’s take the lessons from the game and use it to motivate us moving forward.
I want to thank the 2,700 Claret supporters who made the journey to South Yorkshire. I’ve said it previously, but the travelling support has been fantastic this season. It is not taken for granted by the squad, coaching staff or the board, so thank you.
This week as we lead up to the Lancashire Derby on Sunday, we also approach Remembrance Day, and as always, the Club will be showing our respects to all service personnel who lost their lives during conflicts.
In addition to the Remembrance Day activities on the day of the game, supporters can also find Burnley FC poppies in the Clarets Store, with sales donated to the Royal British Legion.
Our Academy teams have been learning more about Remembrance Day and have been busy selling and designing poppies. The teams have also come together to produce an educational video based around the war poem ‘In Flanders Fields’. The video features players from our academy and first team and will form part of our upcoming activities across the weekend.
Following tonight’s cup game, we are back on home turf on Sunday in the Lancashire Derby. It’s a sell-out crowd and while it’s set to be a real occasion of the season, the club will be releasing details this week to encourage supporters to help us ensure it’s a safe and enjoyable day for all in attendance.
Back to this evening though, with full attention on the cup, tonight offers us a great opportunity to bounce back as we look to head into the break on a high.
Best of luck to Vincent and the squad. I hope you all enjoy the game.
Up the Clarets!
Alan
