Burnley’s final game of 2022 brings a trip to the Potteries on Friday night – 30th December – when Stoke City are the opponents at the bet365 Stadium (7.45pm KO).
Vincent Kompany's side netted three goals for the fourth successive league game on Tuesday night as they beat Birmingham City 3-0 at Turf Moor to reach the 50-point mark for the campaign.
Following his World Cup journey with Morocco, Anass Zaroury made an emphatic return to action for the Clarets when he netted the opener after just 49 seconds against the Blues. Connor Roberts then doubled the lead just before the break, while substitute Nathan Tella slotted home the third late on.
That win saw Burnley remain top of the table, going three points clear of 2nd-placed Sheffield United and 11 points clear of 3rd-placed Blackburn Rovers at the time of writing.

Stoke City
Relegated from the Premier League in the 2017/18 campaign, this season is Stoke’s fifth in a row as a Sky Bet Championship outfit.
Starting the campaign with Michael O’Neill at the helm, the Potters had brought in new boss Alex Neil from Sunderland by the end of August. The Scotsman has brought improved results steadily, though is yet to piece a winning run lasting longer than two matches together.
Accordingly, having drawn 2-2 at Rotherham United on Boxing Day, City sit 17th in the table at the time of writing, five points clear of the relegation zone and five points outside the play-off spots.
Twice trailing against Rotherham, the Potters clawed back a point thanks to Tyrese Campbell's fourth goal of the season and an own goal from Lee Peltier.
The last time we met
Connor Roberts netted midway through the second half for the Clarets at Turf Moor against the Potters in October, though the points would be shared with Harry Clarke’s header levelling things up at 1-1 late on.
Before that meeting, the pair hadn’t faced off since the 2017/18 campaign in which Stoke were relegated from the Premier League. Burnley took all three points at Turf Moor that season courtesy of a 1-0 win before drawing 1-1 in the Potteries.
The Clarets last victory at the bet365 Stadium came in November 2014 when Danny Ings was at the double in a 2-1 success. Jonathan Walters, who would go on to join Burnley, was the City goalscorer that afternoon.
