Having now mathematically sealed promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking, Burnley’s homecoming takes places on Easter Monday – 10th April – when Sheffield United are the visitors to Turf Moor (8pm KO).
Manager Vincent Kompany will celebrate his 37th birthday on Monday, and with the Clarets still on the hunt for silverware, will hope to make it a six-point Easter haul following the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Good Friday which sent his side back to the top flight.
Ashley Barnes & Connor Roberts were the pair on target at the Riverside Stadium on a night which will be fondly remembered for years to come.

And now, with seven games remaining, Burnley head into Monday’s meeting 11 points clear of Sheffield United themselves in 2nd. That’s also the maximum points tally the Clarets need to accumulate between now and the end of the season to be promoted as champions.

Sheffield United
As previously mentioned, Paul Heckingbottom’s Blades are 2nd in the standings, and have been since mid-December.
This is United’s second season in the Sky Bet Championship having been beaten play-off semi-finalists last term.
At the time of writing, the Steel City outfit are eight points ahead of Luton Town in 3rd. Both the Hatters and Middlesbrough in 4th on 67 points have played a game more.
Starting the season with Chris Wilder in charge, the Reds had only won two of their first 11 league games of the campaign by the time he departed in early October.
Accordingly, as appears to be the magic number, the Blades need a maximum of 11 points from their last seven games this season to earn promotion.
The last time we met
Dating back to 1890, Monday’s meeting between the two sides at Turf Moor will be a 129th competitively.

United won the first ever face-off – 2-1 in the FA Cup - at Bramall Lane 133 years ago, and were also victorious on home soil when the pair met there earlier this season.
Burnley however ran out 1-0 winners when the Blades last visited BB10 in December 2020 thanks to a Ben Mee goal just after the half-hour mark.
And at Turf Moor, the Clarets are unbeaten against Monday’s opponents since April 2008. Billy Sharp, who still plays for – and captains – United 15 years on, scored that day.
