Preston North End
West Lancashire outfit Preston are in their eighth consecutive season as a second-tier side having been promoted up from Sky Bet League One in 2014/15.
Ryan Lowe took the helm at Deepdale in 2021, and the Lilywhites currently sit 11th in the table heading into Saturday’s clash having started the campaign with five goalless draws in their first six league games.
More recently, North End have lost their last two. After a 2-0 defeat to Premier League opposition in Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup came a 2-1 defeat last time out at home against Bristol City.
2-0 down by the break in that one, striker Ched Evans grabbed their goal, netting his seventh in the league this season.
The last time we met
Back in September, the Clarets drew 1-1 at Deepdale in a tale of set-pieces.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis’ header opened the scoring 10 minutes in from a Josh Brownhill corner, but soon after it was cancelled out by Jordan Storey, guiding home Brad Potts’ delivery.
That was a first competitive meeting between the pair since April 2016 when Burnley’s trip across Lancashire brought a memorable 1-0 victory on the road to the Championship title.
The Clarets’ last league win over Saturday’s opponents in home soil came in September 2010 when Chris Iwelumo’s hat-trick and Jay Rodriguez’s late strike earned three points in a pulsating 4-3 victory.
