Before they can receive the trophy and officially be crowned as champions of the Sky Bet Championship, Burnley first host Cardiff City at Turf Moor on Monday afternoon in their 54th and final game of the campaign (3pm KO).
The Clarets head into the last day of a spectacular season knowing that the party can start post-game, but before it does, there’s a job to be done with a century of points still within reach following last weekend’s win at Bristol City.
Close to 3000 travelling fans were rewarded with a 2-1 victory in the South West against the Robins thanks to goals from Manuel Benson & Jay Rodriguez, the 94th & 95th of the campaign respectively for Burnley.
Accordingly, if Vincent Kompany’s side can mark the final day with another three points against the Bluebirds on home soil, it’d take their tally to 101, the first centurions in the second tier since Leicester City in 2013/14.

Cardiff City
In a season that’s seen three separate permanent managers in charge of the South Wales outfit, survival was eventually secured last week, so Monday’s visitors head to Turf Moor with their Championship status already intact.
The Bluebirds went 12 league games without a win between November and February, but have picked up six victories since Valentine’s Day – some of those against relegation rivals – to get themselves over the line.

With former Inter Milan & Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi now at the helm, City sit 21st heading into the final game, one place but crucially five points above the bottom three.
Their previous outing against Huddersfield Town, who have now also confirmed their own survival, ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat. 21-year-old Isaak Davies was on the scoresheet for City with his first league goal of the season against the Terriers.
The last time we met
Monday afternoon’s game at Turf Moor provides the 87th competitive meeting of Burnley and Cardiff, dating back over a century to March 1922.
With the Clarets unbeaten in the last six of those, draws have been the order of service more often than not recently with 10 in the last 15 games between the two sides.

That tally includes the reverse fixture in South Wales back in October when they played out a 1-1 draw. Nathan Tella was Burnley’s goalscorer that afternoon.
The good omens continue ahead of Monday as Cardiff haven’t won a game at Turf since May 1988, almost 35 years ago to the day. The Bluebirds have won 10 more times since then against the Clarets, but every one of those has come across the border.
