Although Christmas Day has come and gone, there’s still a festive feast of football to be had as Burnley host Birmingham City at a sold-out Turf Moor on Tuesday night (27th December) with an 8pm KO.
Last Wednesday evening saw Vincent Kompany’s side bow out of the Carabao Cup at the Fourth Round stage, losing out 2-0 to five-time winners Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Clarets previous league outing saw them come from behind at Turf Moor to claim three points with three goals in a 3-1 victory against Middlesbrough. Manuel Benson was on target with a brace, while the third of the afternoon came via an own goal.
Those three points saw Burnley remain top of the table for Christmas, and – at the time of writing – that’s how it stands going into Tuesday’s visit of the Blues.

Birmingham City
This season is a 12th consecutive one in the Sky Bet Championship for City, who were relegated from the Premier League back in 2011.
Appointing former Derby County & Watford defender John Eustace in the summer, the Blues have taken 32 points at the halfway point in the campaign, winning eight, drawing eight & losing seven.
At the time of writing, Eustace’s side sit 9th, two points outside the Play-Off spots. They weren’t in Carabao Cup action, so the trip to Turf Moor will be their first game for 11 days.
Birmingham’s last outing was a 3-2 win over Reading at St Andrew’s, picking up a first victory in four. Captain Troy Deeney netted a brace, while ex-Manchester United man Tahith Chong was also on the scoresheet.
The last time we met
Back in October, the reverse fixture in the Midlands ended in a 1-1 draw. Johann Berg Gudmundsson came off the bench and fired the Clarets ahead just four minutes later, but the hosts hit back quickly through Scott Hogan to ensure the points would be shared.
Before this season, the pair hadn’t met since the 2015/16 campaign which saw Burnley promoted.
Drawing 2-2 at Turf Moor that season with goals from Michael Keane & Matt Taylor, the Clarets would go on to win 2-1 at St Andrew’s in April 2016 when both George Boyd & Andre Gray were on target.
Burnley’s last success over Tuesday’s opponents at Turf Moor was a 3-0 win back in 2013.
