Clarets host City in final home game of 2020

Tony Philliskirk's side return to their Leyland base this weekend, hosting fourth placed Manchester City in the U18 Premier League.

The Clarets will be looking to extend their unbeaten run on home soil to three games, against a City side with four wins in their previous five games.

The last time these two sides met was last season, where Philliskirk's youngsters fell to a 1-0 defeat in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final in March, with the Manchester side going on to win the competition.

And winger Kade Ratchford knows his side are up against strong opposition, but insists the team are well up for the test and can benefit from the challenge.

"The boys are all aware that we’re in for a tough game and we know we’re up against the best of the best, but we can’t let the thought of that get the better of us and we just need to go into the game like any other.

"These are the games especially which are going to benefit me as a player.

"Playing against teams like Man City are always going to be a good experience and be nothing but beneficial to my development as a player and for the group.

"I think for our first season in Category 1 we’ve adapted well so far, we’ve been unlucky with results and there’s still work to be done but we’re improving more and more every week."
