Nick Pope on clean sheet and draw with Hammers

Goalkeepr Nick Pope admitted the Clarets came away happy with the clean sheet and another point on the board, but knows the draws soon need to change into wins.

It was a second clean sheet in three games for Sean Dyche's men, after a 0-0 draw against Wolves last Wednesday, but a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle last weekend, sees Burnley without a goal in three games.

But Pope was pleased was the defensive efforts this afternoon, as the hosts kept out a dangerous West Ham, in a tight contest at Turf Moor.

The Clarets number one said: “It’s a clean sheet and we haven’t lost the game, so we’re happy about that.

“We do want to start turning some of these draws into wins, but it’s a point and we take it.

“Since I have been at the club, there has always been that solid defensive unit and it starts from two lads at the front.

“It then runs through the team, to protect the defence and me and the goal and that’s what came together well today, us and the defensive side.

“There’s been a couple of games recently, where we have had a chance late on and it doesn’t quite fall for us.

“We have to make that happen though, anything like that we have to make it happen and we just have to have a little bit more quality when carving open the chances."

The Clarets' attention now turns to Wednesday, where Dyche's side host Watford at Turf Moor, who now sit above Burnley by two points in 17th.

And Pope, who made a number of impressive saves, believes the strength in depth within the squad can help the side throughout the upcoming busy Festive period.
