Nick Pope is in the running to be named Premier League Player of the Year in the Northwest Football Awards.
The Clarets’ goalkeeper is on a shortlist of four in with a chance of winning the prize.
Pope, who is up against Liverpool’s title-winning captain Jordan Henderson, Manchester City forward Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester United striker Anthony Martial, kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League last season to miss out on a share of the league’s Golden Glove by one.
The England international was named as both the players’ and supporters’ Player of the Year at Turf Moor for 2019/20.
And Pope is joined by three other Burnley players in being put forward by a judging panel for a public vote to decide the winners in four categories of the annual Northwest awards.
Team-mate Dwight McNeil has been nominated for The Athletic Rising Star award after being an ever-present in the Clarets’ Premier League campaign.
And two members of the successful Burnley FC Women’s team, which was aiming for another promotion before their season was curtailed by Covid-19, have also been short-listed.
Captain and goalkeeper Lauren Bracewell has been nominated for the Player of the Season award, along with striker Saffron Jordan of Blackburn Rovers Ladies, Liverpool FC Women’s Northern Ireland international midfielder Rachel Furness, Manchester United Women FC forward Lauren James and Manchester City Women’s England captain Steph Houghton.
And striker Evie Priestley is on the shortlist for The Athletic Women’s Rising Star prize.
