Clarets boss previews Saturday's meeting with Spurs

Scott Parker met the media on Thursday lunchtime ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.

The Clarets head into Saturday's 3pm kick-off buoyed by a three-match unbeaten run in all competitions, with a fine away performance at Anfield - the home of the reigning Premier League champions - last time out ensuring spirits are high in the camp ahead of the visit of Thomas Frank's side.

Here's what the Burnley boss said ahead of game-week 23 in the Premier League ... TEAM NEWS

"Zian and Joe have both been training this week.

"Zian is probably a bit more touch and go.

"We had a bit of a down-day training wise today, so we'll make a call on him tomorrow.

"Everyone else is fit and ready really."

FOCUSING ON OURSELVES

"Every game is an opportunity for us.

"Our full focus is on us and what we're going to need to bring to this game.

"But make no mistake, we're up against a side full of international players - players with unbelievable quality, coached by a great coach in Thomas Frank.

"I've come up against Thomas' teams and what I can tell you is that he's fantastic coach. He prepares his teams fantastically well, and I'm not expecting anything different at the weekend."

CONTROLLING THE CONTROLLABLES

"All we can do is control the controllables.

"What we can control is that come 3pm on Saturday when we cross the white line, we absolutely give everything, in terms of our tactics, our energy and endeavour, and the quality I know we possess.

"The mood at other clubs doesn't count for anything once the game kicks off. It's totally irrelevant.

"Our main focus is ourselves and bringing the best version of ourselves to this game."

REACTING IN THE RIGHT WAY

"I was hugely critical of us all after Brighton. We challenged each other to respond after the manner of that defeat - and we’ve shown great courage and resilience since then.

"This is a courageous group, they fight for each other, and that can only serve to stand us in good stead for the challenges ahead.

"It’s important we take the momentum from our last three performances into Saturday. Momentum breeds confidence."

LEARNINGS AND PROGRESS

"The first match of the season at their place was a bit of a baptism of fire - it took us a while to get going.

"We're a better version of ourselves now compared to then - we have more of an understanding about the Premier League, the quality we're up against, the level of detail, the concentration that's required to give ourselves a fighting chance in this division.

"There's been a lot of learnings since the last time we played Spurs, and we feel we're improving."
