Clarets boss previews Loftus Road trip

Although Scott Parker's side achieved their objective for the season of getting promoted on Monday night, the Burnley boss insists full focus is now on winning the Sky Bet Championship title.

The Clarets head to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, before hosting Millwall on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign and Parker wants his team to go all the way.

Burnley and Leeds are currently level on points before this weekend's trip to London and Parker acknowledged just how close it is at the top.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's clash with the R's, Parker said: "It's so close, isn't it. Just goal difference separating the two teams, it really is tight.

"We need full focus and it's the same with Leeds who are going for this as well. We'll end up hopefully this season with a large amount of points that maybe any year would probably get it done.

"It's been a competitive season this year with three teams battling it out throughout and we've got two massive games left now, but we'll see where we end up."

Parker continued: “It would mean everything for us to go and achieve it and that's our aim now. We've ticked one box and that box was to get out of this division and back into the Premier League, where this club deserves to be and these players deserve to be.

“The next one now is can we tick another one and try and become champions of this division? That's the sole aim now.”

The Clarets enjoyed a couple of days off following Monday's win over the Blades which secured promotion, but Parker says that full focus is now on taking all three points at Loftus Road.

"As quickly as I say that then, we've come in now full attention and we're back to me saying to you the next game and that next game comes against QPR and that's our sole focus.

"We've worked this morning and we'll work again. We'll prep into this game with one focus now. Can we go and try and get maximum points at the next two games and try and win this league? That's the next challenge and that's the next task really.

"We need to park what we've done and we've had a short celebration and that's because we've now got two massive games which we're wanting to try and get maximum points out of and show the best version of ourselves like we've done all year."
