Head Coach Scott Parker admitted although he was 'happy' with the point taken from the 0-0 draw at Turf Moor, the Clarets boss says his side lacked 'a tiny bit' in the final third going forward.

On paper, it was the league's highest scorers coming up against the best defensive record in the country and as Parker alluded to, this sort of result can be expected in a top-of-the-table cagey contest.

Speaking post-match following the draw, which saw Burnley extend their unbeaten run to 17 games, Parker explained: "I think it was always going to pan out that way, wasn't it. No denying that we're playing against a very, very good side tonight.

"I think Leeds are a top side in the two match-ups tonight. If it was a boxing match, the two match-ups are that you're playing against a side that have real attacking threat and are going to score goals at all times this year.

"Then the reverse of that, you're playing against a side in us that have been nothing short of remarkable defensively and I suppose it always smelt a little bit of a nil-nil, and that's exactly what it proved, really."

Parker added: "Overall, I'm happy with that point. Look, we came here with full intentions trying to win the game and everything we did, everything we prepped, we wanted to try and cause Leeds a problem.

"We certainly came here with a belief that we could win the game, while understanding that it was always going to be a very difficult game for us.

"I thought first half we had our moments, we had some good moments. We just lacked a little tiny bit in terms of the loose ball at certain moments in the final bit.

"Second half, I think it's fair to say, the game goes away from us, and they proved dominant while not really causing us too many problems. Then the back end of the game, probably seeing two teams that were seeing out the game for what it was."

There was only one effort on target across the 90 minutes on a cold and wet evening in Lancashire and although the Burnley boss was disappointed to not see any chances on goal, he had high praise for the defensive display and the 'intention' of his team.

"I just thought in the second-half we just lacked a little bit of control, but if there's one thing that I will never be critical of of this group, is the intention.

"There's a group of men that run out there every time and absolutely give their everything and the second half we just lacked a little something.

"Like I said overall, defensively we were rock solid again and I get that it isn't fashionable. I get people don't want to talk about that, they want to highlight the fact that we've not scored many goals, but what this team have done so far this year defensively has been nothing short of remarkable, and it's given us a platform at this present moment in time to be in and around where we are."
