Head Coach Scott Parker admitted although he was left 'pleased overall' following Burnley's draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday night, the Clarets boss was disappointed to not return to Lancashire with all three points, as Burnley extended their unbeaten Sky Bet Championship run to 11 games.

The visitors created a handful of opportunities throughout the clash at the Riverside Stadium, but neither side were able to just quite break through and find the back of the net. However, a seventh point from the available nine over the Christmas period left the Burnley boss more than satisfied.

Speaking post-match on Teesside, Parker said: "It was a tough game, it was pretty even I thought, of course we have a great chance and games can be defined by fine margins.

“I thought the game ebbed and flowed, but we had a glorious chance, in fact we had a couple to be fair, but we have a big chance with Browny and I don’t think you’d want a better man to put that in - he’s proven that over the course of the season - but he’s not managed to do that tonight.

"I’m probably a little bit disappointed to not come away with the win, but overall I'm pleased with the performance and it's a good point for us. We're nudging along in the right direction and we're pleased with the results we have got recently."

Parker added: "We’ve had some tough fixtures over this period and I knew this would be a big test for us. Not just in terms of the opposition we were facing, but just in terms of where we were after a tough schedule.

"The fixtures have probably not been the best of friends since they came out at the start of the season - Sheffield United away on Boxing Day was a tough game and tonight as well, but overall I’m really pleased with the team.”

The Clarets have taken an impressive seven points over the Christmas period with wins over Watford and Sheffield United followed by tonight's draw and Parker described his side's efforts as 'fantastic' and applauded the squad.

“It’s been a fantastic week for us, an absolutely fantastic week. I often compliment this group of men but they never cease to amaze me.

"It’s been relentless, it feels like we’ve been on the road for some time. We’ve not had many home games, and over the course of this Christmas period with back-to-back away games and the challenges that brings with the schedule and players being away from home and stuck in hotels, but they’ve given me absolutely everything.

“I decided not to change the team and to a man they were superb. They had to dig really deep.”
