Head Coach Scott Parker says that his record-breaking defence gives his side a 'concrete foundation' to keep on building in the Sky Bet Championship, as the Clarets secured a third consecutive win on Tuesday night at Turf Moor.
Jeremy Sarmiento opened the scoring for Burnley in the second-half, before defender CJ Egan-Riley dinked home his first ever senior career goal, with the hosts also ensuring a fourth straight clean sheet in the league.
The Clarets have conceded just six goals in their sixteen Championship games so far this season, a record in the history of English football's second tier.
Parker believes it's the foundation to success and had plenty of praise for his side: "We're really happy with tonight. First and foremost, we wanted to go into the game and put in a good performance and get a result and that's what we got.
"I thought we had some real dominance in the first-half and controlled it. I thought we just lacked a little bit in numbers going forward in the first-half, but then in the second-half you can see from the goal, we tried to overload in numbers and commit bodies in and around their box.
"It was good to get our noses in front with Jez's goal and then add the second with the game drawing to a close. It was another solid defensive display again from the lads too.
"You want to build your platform and foundations from the back and in defence and you can see out there that we defend our goal like our lives depend on it. It's an incredible group we have got.
"We're nudging along nicely and it's an incredible record that stands with us (least goals ever conceded in the Championship at this point of the season) and it gives us a concrete foundation to keep on building."
Sarmiento's second goal of the campaign saw the Ecuadorian connect onto Connor Roberts' cut-back, before Egan-Riley lobbed the ball over a stranded Bradley Collins to seal the win.
Parker was quick to praise the pair for their goal contributions: "A lot of work goes in on the training ground, they're a fantastic group of lads that just want to learn, listen and work hard. You speak to the group and they are all eyes and all ears.
"The first goal was every bit of that, overlap, cut-back, bodies in the box and finishing first time. We executed it perfectly and we're really pleased for Jez (Sarmiento).
"CJ has done terrific. I have been nothing but impressed with him, it was down to him to take the opportunity he has been given to play and he's done exactly that.
"He's been first class, we're pleased he's got a goal to his name tonight. It might have been a cross, but it's a goal for him and he'll take it"
