Burnley boss Scott Parker is fully focused on the positives of the Clarets season to date, as he prepares his team for Sunday's fixture against Aston Villa.

The Clarets make the trip to the Midlands this weekend, eyeing a second Premier League win of the season.

Despite competing well in away fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Manchester City so far this term, points have not been forthcoming for Parker's side on the road.

"Perspective has to come into play, in terms of the level of team we've come up against so far, some hugely talented teams," he said.

"I'm pleased with the application we've shown in every game. We know where we are and where we want to be.

"Against tough opposition, we’ve done a lot right. The process, structure, and stability in how we work every day doesn’t change, it’s what carries us toward our long-term goals.

“The positives are clear. We have focus, clarity, and calm in our work, and we’re fully fixed on the next challenge.

"Of course there's loads that we can improve on, and we're focused on doing that every day.

“We’re in this together. It’s a tight group with real team spirit and togetherness, giving the best of ourselves everyday – players, staff, and supporters alike.”

After an uncharacteristically slow start to the season by their own exceptional high standards, Villa head into Sunday's fixture buoyed by back-to-back wins this week - a 3-1 success against Fulham in the Premier League last weekend followed by a 2-0 victory in Europa League action over Feyenoord on Thursday night.

Parker is under no illusions regarding the task at hand this weekend, commenting: "Villa are a top team, make no mistake.

"They're coming off a couple of really good results, and we're going to be coming up a really good side.

"They're really well coached by a top, top manager, with world class players.

"It's never an easy stadium to go to, and I'm expecting nothing but a tough test - but the focus is on us to go there and show what we're capable of as a group.

"We won't be fearful, not for one second - we'll go there and give the best version of ourselves."
