Head Coach Scott Parker says although he understands the challenge that comes with playing in the Premier League, he and his team are looking forward to kicking off the 2025/25 campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.

The Clarets head to London on Saturday for their first league game of the season and Parker insists that his squad are relishing the year ahead and will be aiming to 'give our best version of ourselves' across the season.

Speaking to the media on Thursday in the first pre-match press conference, Parker touched on this weekend's fixture and the vision of the upcoming year.

The Burnley boss said: "It's a brilliant first game for us, we're looking forward to this. We're looking forward to starting the season and it's a great one for us to test ourselves, which we're excited about it."

Parker continued: “As always, we understand the challenges. It's like anything, we can't sit here and say it any other way.

"The challenges for teams coming up in this division are big and over the last couple of years it's well documented that those challenges have been proven to be very demanding and have ultimately ended in relegation.

“But these are the challenges that we worked tirelessly for last year. I felt we built something in this group and we built something in this football club that fundamentally is a bedrock for us that can put us in a really strong position. We're excited about this challenge.

“We had challenges last year. I've had challenges many a time during my journey as a coach and this is a challenge that we're absolutely relishing this year.

“We're going to go and give our best version of ourselves while also taking the massive parts of last year, that gave us big success and hopefully bring that into this year.”

Saturday's opponents Spurs head into this weekend under the guidance of new Head Coach Thomas Frank and Parker had high praise for the UEFA Europa League champions and Frank as a coach.

"There's definitely differences there (Spurs). It's a small sample size and pre-season has suggested some different things and some different tactical elements, which obviously I think Thomas (Frank) is maybe looking at and in last night's game as well.

"There's certainly some key things that have changed, which obviously I've noticed and we've noticed. They're a very good side with a very good coach and we understand the demands of this game and the challenge that we face.

"But it's one, as always, we'll be prepared for and go and give the best version of ourselves to try and get a result."
