Scott Parker has called for ‘humongous energy’ at Turf Moor, as the Clarets prepare to welcome table-topping Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Hot-on-the-heels of back-to-back wins in the Premier League, Burnley head into the match-week ten clash against Mikel Arteta’s high-flying Gunners in a confident mood – and Parker is determined to build on that feel-good factor this weekend.

"We're at home and our stadium has been a fortress for us – we've had an incredible home record in my time here,” he said.

"We've made Turf Moor a really tough place for teams to come and play – and the fans have played a massive part in that. We need to make it exactly like that again this weekend.

"While we're up against a top team in Arsenal, we need to make it tough for them, and do the polar opposite of what they want.

"Our fans are going to need to bring absolutely humongous energy into the stadium, our players are going to need to bring unbelievable spirit, showing the best version of themselves.

"We'll be fearless in our approach and in how we go about it – showing confidence, desire and passion.

"And with that, make it as uncomfortable for them as we possibly can do, and try and get a positive result.”

Arsenal currently sit at the summit of the division on 22 points from their nine fixtures to date – but they’ve only scored five times from open play in that spell, with the rest coming from set-plays.

Parker, however, believes some of the criticism they’ve faced for their tactical approach is misplaced, and insists Burnley will be coming up against one of Europe’s best this weekend.

"The aim is always to get a positive result, no matter who the opposition are,” said Parker, “but we know we’re facing one of the top teams, make no mistake about it.

"They're a really good side, that's been together for some time – they're competing at the top of the Premier League and are in and around the favourites to be Champions this season.

"I see a fluid, unbelievably well-coached team. You can't say they just totally rely on set-plays, they've had key moments so far this season where they've got wins from set-pieces, but they're an exceptional, well-oiled machine.

"They've got a great bedrock defensively, something we enjoyed success with last season, but they're just an overall top, top side.

"We're going to need certain ingredients in how we go about it. We're going to need to be at our optimum in almost every facet. But it's 90 minutes and anything can happen.”
