Nominations for Head of Women’s Football

Head of Women’s Football Lola Ogunbote has been recognised in both the Women’s Football Awards and the Football Black List in recent weeks.

For the second year running, Ogunbote has been named as a finalist in the ‘Off the Pitch’ category of the Women’s Football awards.

The prize will be given to somebody who has ‘shown dedication and passion for improving the beautiful game for women’ and will be decided by a judging panel.

Other people on the shortlist include Football Association Chair Debbie Hewitt MBE, Brighton & Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber OBE and Manchester City Women Managing Director Charlotte O’Neill.

Ogunbote will find out whether she has won the award at a star-studded event in London on Thursday 1st May, hosted by Gabby Logan MBE, Eni Aluko MBE and Jamie Carragher.

Elsewhere, the Football Black List named this year’s winners last week and Ogunbote has been successful in the Administration section.

Founded in 2008 by Leon Mann MBE and Rodney Hinds, the widely respected initiative highlights leaders of African and Caribbean heritage working and volunteering across all areas of football.

A panel of experts drawn from the football industry and the Black community independently vote on nominations made by the general public to determine who makes the list.

Ogunbote and the rest of those on the list will receive awards at the Football Black List celebration event, supported by the Premier League, to be held at Arsenal Football Club on Thursday 24th April.

Commenting on her achievements, she said: “I'm incredibly proud to have been nominated once again for a Women’s Football Award.

“To be recognised alongside such inspiring names is a real honour, and I’m deeply grateful.

"The Football Black List Award is something I hold in the highest regard. It's more than just an award - it's a celebration of Black excellence and influence within the game we all love.

“To be recognised by such a powerful platform is both humbling and motivating. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come, but also how much more we can achieve when we champion diversity, representation, and opportunity.

“This recognition belongs to everyone who’s supported me along the way - my family, my colleagues at Burnley FC, and the ALK ownership but particularly Alan Pace who has trusted and empowered me to lead this Women's team.

“It’s been a privilege to be part of such a special journey.”
