U21s defender remains a Claret

Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm that Logan Pye has signed a new one-year contract, keeping him with the Clarets until the summer of 2026.

The defender, who is comfortable at left-back and centre-back, was due to be out of contract this summer.

Having signed on the dotted line, he said: “This is the Club that has shown me the most love, and it’s like a family to me.

“The second half of the season has gone really well for me. Staying fit is the main thing and I’ve managed my body well and put in a fair few good performances.

“There’s healthy competition here. First team wise there are Lucas Pires and Owen Dodgson, who are both good left-backs that I can learn from, and from the U18s there’s Oli Pimlott, who’s also helped kick me on.

“Being at a Club with that competition gets the best out of you, and the coaches here are really understanding of my situation too and have held me back a little bit when needed.

“Hopefully, I can really kick on next year and prove myself.”

Originally from Sunderland, Pye joined the Clarets from Manchester United in September 2023.

He has since featured regularly for the U21s, with his versatility and physical attributes proving beneficial to the team.

The 21-year-old has made 22 appearances in all competitions and scored twice, including one in November’s 5-0 victory over Luton Town in the Premier League Cup.

Academy Manager Chris Casper added: “We’re pleased to have Logan on board with us for next season.

“He has proven how good of a player he can be on the pitch and, importantly, as one of the older members of the group he has supported others when they’ve stepped up.

“I’m confident there’s more to come from him too, and I look forward to seeing that next season.”
