Burnley Football Club are pleased to announce the introduction of a brand-new award for our Academy, named after former Claret, Lenny Johnrose.
The Lenny Johnrose Award is given to the academy player who shows promise in their overall football performance, college work and behaviour both on and off the pitch. The first player will receive this award at the end of the current season, with the purpose to acknowledge their achievements both on and off the field.
Lenny and his family kindly donated the trophy to the Club, and it was agreed between both parties that the award was best suited for the Academy. Lenny and his family were in attendance for last weekend's game versus Liverpool to pass the trophy on to Academy Director, Paul Jenkins. Jenkins said: “We couldn’t think of anyone else more suited for this award to be named after than Lenny and we thank him and his family for kindly donating the trophy.
“Lenny is someone I have known of for a long time, and he epitomises what this award stands for, and he is a role model for our younger players to look up to.
“Lenny is a true gentleman, and it was lovely to meet him and his family to welcome them all back to Turf Moor last weekend.”
